Former Georgia Bulldogs-turned authors will be in Athens on Saturday to greet fans and sign copies of their new books.
Herschel Walker will sign his book titled "Breaking Free" from 10 a.m. to noon at the UGA Bookstore on Baxter Street. The Heisman winner's 2008 book, revealing his hidden struggle with a mental disorder, is now available in paperback, said Bob Bailey, assistant manager at the bookstore.
"Since the 1980 national championship, Herschel's always been a very big deal," Bailey said. "This will be his second time in the store."
Also at 10 a.m., longtime announcer Larry Munson will be signing "From Herschel to a Hobnail Boot."
The bookstore has hundreds of copies of the books available for purchase, Bailey said. The store opens at 9 a.m.
At 12:30 p.m., former Coach Vince Dooley will sign "Dooley's Playback," his book highlighting 34 memorable plays during his era. At the same time Saturday, Fran Tarkenton, who spent 18 years in the NFL, will sign "Every Day is Game Day." The former UGA quarterback wrote the book with fellow NFL star Jim Bruton.
And that's not all of the Bulldogs.
Kevin Butler and David Greene will meet fans and sign autographs from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
"We never had this many here the same day," Bailey said.
