Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason logged career highs in attempts and completions in Saturday’s loss to Florida.

The senior from Marietta was 25-for-41 passing for 314 yards and one TD. His leading receiver was junior Malcolm Mitchell, who had seven catches for 55 yards. Senior Michael Bennett added six receptions for 60 yards.

The passing yards were the most for Mason this season. His previous best was 191 yards in a loss to South Carolina. He threw for a career-high 320 yards in last year’s Gator Bowl loss to Nebraska, also at EverBank Field.

Most of Mason’s passing yards — 232 — came after halftime as the Bulldogs tried to make up a three-score deficit.

“It was more of a two-minute defense they were playing,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “I’m not going to sit here and say we lit them up throwing the football.”
