ATHENS – Caleb King didn't sleep on the flight home from Colorado.

“That was a long trip,” he said.

The Georgia tailback was thinking about his fourth-quarter fumble that came on what he said was a draw play with less than 2 minutes remaining in Colorado’s 29-27 victory over Georgia.

“Everybody says it was a flea-flicker, but it was a draw play,” King said. “We don't even do flea-flickers.”

King reiterated what coach Mark Richt said, when he called it "as basic of a play as we've got." King even named the play – "44 draw" – and said the Bulldogs had run it earlier in the game prior to his fumble.

This time, though, Colorado linebacker B.J. Beatty blitzed from the outside and King tried to spin from the grasp, losing the ball in the process.

“The whole time I saw the man coming off the edge and I just tried to spin before he got there,” King said. “He got there before the quarterback got me the ball.”

King finished with 100 yards on 12 carries, the first 100-yard game from Georgia’s running backs this year.

Practicing in full pads

Richt shook up the normal Monday routine by calling a full-pads practice for what he said was the first time since he’s been at Georgia.

The Bulldogs (1-4, 0-3 SEC) have lost four consecutive games heading into Saturday’s game against Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC).

“We hadn’t been blocking and tackling real good, so we decided to have a little spring ball today,” Richt said. “Normally we’re in shorts, running, getting a little running in, work on a few things. But we decided to put the pads on and get after it. One vs. one, two vs. two.”

Tailback Washaun Ealey said the practice was "a big surprise."

“I don’t think any of the guys knew about it until we got to the locker room,” he said. “I feel like the team took it on as a challenge and it went pretty well. I feel like it will help us get a win this Saturday.”

Border war

There are 17 players from Georgia on Tennessee's roster, including starting tailback Tauren Poole (Stephens County), freshman right tackle Ja'Wuan James (North Gwinnett), linebacker LaMarcus Thompson (Redan) and punter Chad Cunningham (Dawson County). Strong safety Brent Brewer (Sandy Creek) and WR Da'Rick Rogers (Calhoun) are backups on the two-deep.

Rogers, a freshman who committed to Georgia but signed with the Volunteers, has played in all five games and has three catches for 25 yards.

Two players on Georgia's roster -- WR Marlon Brown and redshirt freshman OT Austin Long -- are from Tennessee. They're both from Memphis.

Commings starting again

Sanders Commings is listed ahead of Vance Cuff at a cornerback position, with Brandon Boykin starting on the other side on this week's depth chart.

Commings and Branden Smith started against Colorado, but Smith went out with his second concussion of the season and didn't return in the second half.

Cuff struggled in coverage against Colorado and was called for roughing the kicker.

Vandy game on TV

Georgia’s game against Vanderbilt on Oct. 16 will start at 12:21 p.m. and be televised by the SEC Network (Peachtree TV).

It will be the Bulldogs’ third appearance on the SEC Network in 2010, joining the season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette and Saturday’s game against Tennessee.

Etc.

WR Kris Durham (pinched nerve) said he practiced in a non-contact jersey and hopes to play against Tennessee. He was held out of Saturday's game with the injury. … LB Darryl Gamble will wear No. 31 on Saturday to honor former teammate Quintin Banks. … Georgia is last in the SEC in pass efficiency defense at 144.2. Opposing QBs have completed 57.8 percent of their passes for 965 yards and seven TDs. … Tennessee has given up a SEC-high19 sacks this season.
