Georgia Tech nose tackle Shawn Green’s status for Saturday’s game against Clemson remained uncertain as he continues to rehabilitate a knee injury suffered against N.C. State. Coach Paul Johnson said Tuesday prior to practice that “we’ll see if he can bounce back and play. We may not know till Wednesday or Thursday.”
If Green can’t play, defensive lineman Patrick Gamble figures to step in at tackle to play for him. Gamble had been the backup before moving out to end for the Virginia game Nov. 1, but injured his ankle near the end of the game. Gamble said he has been practicing both at end and tackle this week.
“I’ve got no complaints,” Gamble said. “It’s all smooth sailing for me.”
Tech fans who want to trust in the diagnosis of defensive tackle Adam Gotsis need not worry about Green. Gotsis said he thinks Green will play.
“I mean, that’s my mentality,” Gotsis said. “I think he will. But it’s O.K. We’ve got Pat, who’s played a bunch of snaps, we’ve got Francis (Kallon), who’s played a bunch of snaps.”
