Georgia Tech didn’t quite channel Lethal Weapon 3, but the Yellow Jackets raised their offensive game considerably Saturday, leading to a 73-59 win over Wake Forest at McCamish Pavilion.

Playing before the 1990 Final Four team, including the “Lethal Weapon 3” trio of Kenny Anderson, Brian Oliver and Dennis Scott, Tech won its second ACC game of the season with a dominant effort over Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons, shooting a season-worst 29.7 percent from the field, played no small part in the final result.

Tech shot 45.8 percent from the field, almost six percentage points better than their average in ACC play, and made a season-high nine 3-pointers on 20 tries.

Saturday, there was no chance that the Jackets would lose in the final minute, as has been their pattern throughout the ACC season. Tech jumped out to an 11-0 lead, fought off a first-half rally by Wake and started the second half on an 13-2 run to begin to secure the victory.

Tech (11-12 overall, 2-9 ACC) was led by a trio of double-digit scorers – forward Charles Mitchell (15 with six rebounds), guard Chris Bolden (14 with four 3-pointers) and forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (13 with five rebounds).

Wake Forest (11-13, 3-8) had won its past two games and was attempting a season sweep of the Jackets.

The 1990 team was brought onto the court at halftime. Nine of the 14 team members who delivered the school’s first Final Four trip were present, as well as coach Bobby Cremins.
