Georgia Tech began full-scale preparations for Georgia Wednesday. Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb has the Yellow Jackets’ complete attention.

Miami’s Duke Johnson is the best running back Tech has faced this season, but Chubb compares favorably. Chubb averages 103.9 yards per game and 6.8 yards per carry. Tech has played significantly better run defense lately, allowing 4.0 yards per carry in the past three games after giving up 5.4 yards per carry in the first eight.

“Chubb’s a fantastic back,” defensive coordinator Ted Roof said. “They’ve got a lot of fantastic backs. We know they’re going to be extremely talented and extremely explosive.”

As coaches presented Georgia’s base plays and formations to the Tech defense, fitting in gaps in the line was a priority.

“We know we have a special running back that can hit the hole anywhere so we’re trying to be gap sound,” defensive end Roderick Rook-Chungong said.
