Georgia Tech commit and offensive lineman Connor Hansen was visited by coach Paul Johnson and safeties coach Andy McCollum on Wednesday.

“It was great,” Hansen said. “(Johnson) and coach McCollum came by and we just talked about everything from our recruiting class to what they did this weekend. We were just catching up.”

The 3-star lineman with played center and defensive tackle at Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Fla. committed to Tech in June.

“I asked (Johnson) a few questions,” Hansen said of the coaches’ visit. “I asked him what position I’ll play (at Tech). I wanted to hear officially from a head coach and he said guard. We were just talking. He asked me what I’m getting into because track season is starting up.”

Hansen, a 6-foot-2, 328 pound senior, did the discus, shot put and an alternate for the four-by-400 meters for Lawton Chiles last season.

With his junior season being his first season on the track and field team, Hansen enjoys his events, but isn’t as passionate about pursuing them on a collegiate level like he is with football.

“Let’s say some miracle happens,” Hansen said. “If there was a way where it wouldn’t hinder with school and with football, if I could deal with it and still be flexible, (I’d pursue it.)”
