The Georgia Tech golf team received the top seed in the Raleigh, N.C. regional. The field was announced Monday morning.

The regional tournament will begin May 15 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

The Yellow Jackets earned an automatic berth by winning the ACC championship a week ago, their seventh in the past nine years. They’ll be in Raleigh with Washington, Florida State, Texas A&M, Mercer, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, South Alabama, Memphis, Minnesota, Rice and Bethune-Cookman. The top five teams in the 13-team field will advance to the national championship, to be held beginning May 23 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.

It’s the 17th consecutive NCAA tournament berth for the team, which has advanced out of the regional round every year but one in that span.

In its bid to win its first national championship, Tech reached the semifinals last year before losing to eventual champion Alabama.
