Both the Bulldogs and Gamecocks had a lot of time to think about their impending game in their opposing locker rooms. Kickoff was delayed for 90 minutes by “unsafe weather conditions.” Twice they took to the field to warm up only to be called back in and start over their pregame routines.

“I think that made us just want it even more, actually, just waiting,” Georgia tailback Todd Gurley said. “And then finally being able to go out there, we were ready. But it was a long wait, I’ll tell you that.”

Georgia’s Mark Richt said all the stopping and starting was a little frustrating for the coaches.

“We knew we were going to have 20 minutes to warm up, so we were just working on that,” he said. “We started that and then we had to come back in. All the sudden it became a 10-minute warmup. … Basically we were just trying to be ready when the time comes. About three times we started it and the third time we finally got going.”

Richt said the best part was he got a do-over on his pregame speech to the team.

“I did two pregame talks,” he said. “I thought my second one was better than the first one.”
