Smelter, Davis, Austin honored by team

Georgia Tech oaches honored wide receiver DeAndre Smelter (offense), linebacker P.J. Davis (defense) and defensive back Lawrence Austin (special teams) as the team’s players of the week for the win over Clemson. Smelter and Davis were also named the ACC’s players of the week at their respective position groups. Smelter caught five passes for 77 yards and one touchdown and also cleared 1,000 receiving yards for his career. Davis led Tech with 13 tackles, one short of his career high, and helped limit Clemson to six points.

Austin, who plays on multiple special-teams units, made solo tackles on two kickoffs.
