Georgia tailback Keith Marshall left the locker room on crutches after Saturday’s game, his right leg again injured. But coach Mark Richt said the initial prognosis was encouraging, pending medical tests.

“The early word on it is that it’s not real serious, but you always have to get the MRIs to clarify things,” Richt said. “But we’re not sitting here holding our breaths so much; we think it’s pretty solid structurally.”

Marshall suffered a torn ACL in his right knee at Tennessee in the fifth game of last season and underwent reconstructive surgery. Before the injury in Saturday’s game, Marshall had 14 yards rushing on five carries against Troy. In Georgia’s two previous games this season, he had seven carries for 10 yards.

Georgia safety Quincy Mauger left Saturday’s game in the first half with a shoulder injury, but Richt said afterward that appears to be a “short-term thing. Not 100 percent sure, but we think it’s more like a stinger.”
