Georgia senior linebacker Ramik Wilson on Monday night told reporters he thought the Bulldogs “underestimated” Florida going into last Saturday’s game in Jacksonville and that notion may have contributed to them getting beat 38-20.

That comment made its way back to coach Mark Richt on Tuesday and he didn’t like it.

“Yeah, I heard about that,” Richt said during his weekly news conference. “I think that’s why sometimes I don’t want anybody to talk to the media. That’s what I think. We’ve got a lot of respect for everybody we play every week.”

Wilson, a native of Tampa, certainly didn’t play one of his better games against the Gators. He had five tackles and one quarterback hurry but was pulled from the game for significant stretches while sophomore Reggie Carter filled in at his inside linebacker position.

“We were going on a roll winning games,” Wilson said. “I guess we got too comfortable. … We’ve beaten Florida three years in a row. They’ve had tough losses, they don’t have a good record, they’ve gone through a lot of adversity. They came ready to play.”

A preseason All-SEC first-team selection, Wilson enters the ninth game second on the team in tackles with 60 fourth in tackles for loss with 5.5.
