Georgia Tech B-back Quaide Weimerskirch, who was a backup for his first two seasons, will transfer after his expected graduation in May. Weimerskirch said on his Twitter account Monday, the first day of Tech’s spring practice, that he will transfer to the University of West Florida, a Division II school in Pensacola, Fla., near his hometown of Pace.

Weimerskirch, a business administration major, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and can compete immediately.

Weimerskirch backed up Dedrick Mills in 2016 and KirVonte Benson last season. He appeared likely to be at least behind Benson and Jerry Howard going into the 2018 season. He had a total of 17 carries in his career for 70 yards with one touchdown.
