Although Wisconsin came away with a 23-17 win over Georgia State on Saturday, the Panthers did notice improvement on the field.

Throwing 20-for-29 for 269 yards and a touchdown against the Badgers, quarterback Conner Manning finally saw his team play the way they’re capable of playing.

“I don’t think anything really changed, we just believed in what we can do and when we truly play Georgia State football we can put some points on the board,” Manning said.

When preparing for Wisconsin, coach Trent Miles wanted to see improvement in the fundamentals from the Panthers.

Upon reflection, Miles admitted his team improved in catching the ball and blocking on Saturday against the then ninth team in the country, but their performance was still unacceptable.

“It was good to see them perform better, but again it was a loss,” Miles said. “Not a lot of good comes out of a loss to me. There’s things to build on, obviously. There’s things you learn, but a loss is a loss.”
