Kennesaw State quarterback Trey White is still recovering from an adductor injury and will not play this weekend against Duquesne.

While the timetable for White’s return is not definite, coach Brian Bohannon was hopeful but unsure headed into the Owls’ bye week that White would be healthy for the Owls’ Oct. 1 game against Furman.

On Tuesday, Bohannon was still unsure when White will return.

“He’s getting better, it’s just gonna take a little time,” Bohannon said. “I don’t know, I think there’s a chance (he could play against Furman), but that’s just based on how his rehab goes and how he progresses.”

White was injured in Kennesaw State’s season opener against East Tennessee State on Sept. 3.

Quarterback Chandler Burks is expected to start for the Owls’ against Duquesne on Saturday. Burks filled in for White after his injury against ETSU and made his first start for the Owls in their most recent game, a 49-3 win over Point.

Even with White sidelined and Burks taking first-team reps for almost three weeks, the relationship between White and Burks remains one built mutual respect and care.

“I ask him every day how he’s doing,” Burks said. “He’s progressing with his rehab. (Trainers) are going to keep close hands on him and trying to get him back out there as fast as possible.”
