The Georgia football team held its fourth bowl-game practice on Monday, and Trenton Thompson was not present, at least during the media viewing period.

No reason was given for Thompson’s absence. He was not mentioned when coach Kirby Smart listed injured players before his press conference earlier in the day.

Thompson, a junior defensive lineman, missed two games earlier this season with a sprained MCL in his right knee, incurred in the Tennessee game on Sept. 30. He has 33 tackles in 11 games and is one of the team’s top defensive linemen on a very deep unit.

Thompson was a preseason All-SEC selection. He has started three of Georgia’s games, rotating in off the bench most of the time, and has played about half of the team’s snaps at defensive end and defensive tackle.

Some other notes from the first media viewing period of the bowl season:

Natrez Patrick practiced, as Smart said he would, while his status remains unresolved.
Freshman Latavious Brini also practiced, but his status remains uncertain because of legal reasons. Brini is redshirting this season.
Among injured players, senior cornerback Malkom Parrish was in full uniform and going through practice. Smart said earlier in the day that Parrish, dealing with a lower extremity injury, was limited.
Kevin Sherrer worked with the outside linebackers for the first time since bowl practice began. Sherrer, who has accepted the job as the Tennessee defensive coordinator, missed the first three days to help recruit for the Volunteers. He plans to coach at Georgia until the playoffs are over.
Freshman defensive back Tray Bishop was not seen during the media viewing period.
Former Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo was in attendance, watching the defensive backs.
