Sharman White interviewed Tuesday for an assistant position on Georgia State coach Ron Hunter’s staff.

White led Miller Grove to seven state titles in the past eight years and has worked as an assistant on the under-16 and under-17 U.S. national teams.

Hunter has two positions open after Everick Sullivan accepted the head coaching job at Lenoir-Rhyne and Darryl LaBarrie accepted an assistant coaching position at Georgia Tech.

Hunter said Tuesday that he wanted to hire at least one assistant who knows Atlanta high schools. White definitely does.

White, 43, also can develop talent, with four players who have signed with high-level colleges, including UCLA and Connecticut.

The Panthers won Sun Belt titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15, and appeared in the ’15 NCAA tournament, where they defeated Baylor before losing to Xavier.

Hunter hopes to finalize the hires by Tuesday.

White may also be a candidate to join Josh Pastner’s staff at Tech.
