Georgia received a commitment Saturday from four-star defensive back Tyrique Stevenson of Miami.
Stevenson made his announcement at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. Soon afterward, Army All-American teammate Jadon Haselwood, the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver, who played at Cedar Grove High School, announced that he will play for Oklahoma.
Georgia already had signed five of the top 38 players in the 247Sports Composite ranking: outside linebacker Nolan Smith (1st overall), linebacker Nakobe Dean (15th), center Clay Webb (22nd), defensive tackle Travon Walker (24th), wide receiver Dominick Blaylock (34th). Stevenson (38th) makes it six.
Haselwood is the top-ranked player from Georgia (6th overall), though Smith, who played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is from Savannah. Because Smith didn’t play his senior season at a Georgia high school, he is not included among in-state prospects.
With Haselwood’s official designation as the state’s top player, this marks the fourth consecutive recruiting class in which Georgia’s top-ranked player left the state. Those players are Derrick Brown (2016, Auburn), Davis Mills (2017, Stanford) and Trevor Lawrence (2018, Clemson).
Georgia maintains its hold on the No. 2 overall class, per the 247Sports Composite. Alabama remains No. 1, with Texas A&M (3), Oklahoma (4) and LSU rounding out the top five.
The next signing period begins Feb. 6.
