Kennesaw State’s Mike Sansing was named the Atlantic Sun Conference baseball coach of the year on Tuesday after leading the Owls to their first regular-season title.
Sansing led the Owls to a record of 29-25 overall, 17-4 in the conference. He is in his 25th year at Kennesaw State.
Kennesaw State will open conference tournament play against Stetson on Wednesday in Nashville.
Also earning all-confernece honors on Wednesday were junior pitcher Gabe Friese, senior catcher Brennan Morgan, sophomore first baseman Austin Upshaw, junior outfielder Corey Greeson, sophomore designated hitter Griffin Helms and freshman shortstop David Chabut.
Friese went 6-1 with an ERA of 4.14 in 67 1/3 innings to make the second team.
Morgan batted .311 with six home runs and a team-high 38 RBI to make the second team.
Upshaw hit .337 with seven home runs and 35 RBI to make the second team.
Greeson hit .361 with five home runs and 29 RBI to make the second team.
Helms hit .384 with four home runs and 23 RBI to make the second team.
Chabut hit .300 to make the all-freshmen team.
