Kennesaw State announced the hire of Andrew Thacker as linebackers coach on Thursday.

Thacker replaces Shane Bowen, who resigned to take a job with the Houston Texans.

Thacker is a coaching veteran with stops at Central Florida (2015), the Atlanta Falcons (2014) and Southern Miss (2013). A native of Cartersville, he played collegiately at Furman.

“We are extremely excited and fortunate to have somebody of Andrew’s caliber and experience join our program,” coach Brian Bohannon said in a statement given to the media. “His experience at several different levels, knowledge of the game and understanding of our system and culture will be a great asset to our defense, student-athletes and overall success of our program.”

The Owls went 6-5 last year in their inaugural season.
