Miami quarterback Jacory Harris carries himself like a winner. And he has reason.

A sophomore, Harris has won 31 of the last 32 games in which he’s started, dating back to his days at Northwestern High School in Miami. The only loss came to California in last year’s Emerald Bowl.

He drew the nation’s attention with his 386-yard, two-touchdown performance in last week’s 38-34 win against Florida State.

He sat down with media in Miami on Monday for a weekly press conference. Here are his thoughts on a variety of topics:

On last Year’s Georgia Tech game, which Tech won 41-23:

“There were a lot of moments from that game you’d like to have back. I threw an interception on a little comeback route, could have had another touchdown. There are a couple of things [you want back]. You look at it and correct those mistakes.”

On how being on campus changed since the FSU win:

“It got a little more exciting on campus. Now everyone has something to look forward to in the season. Last year, we lost to Florida and everyone was down. ‘Oh, man we’re going to have a losing season,’ some students would say. Now it’s exciting. I’m the type of person, I accept everything. Someone [on campus] says ‘good game,’ I just keep going. I have to get to class.”

On why he was so calm after the win while everyone else was jumping around:

“Nobody knew what was really going on with me. I didn’t want to run on the field and be happy [if officials ruled FSU’s last play was a touchdown catch]. As soon as they found out he didn’t catch the ball, I started celebrating.”

On how confident the UM offense looked:

“You have to have that feeling. As soon as we walk on the field, it’s ... ‘They’re giving us this coverage against this play, something’s going to be open.’ The offensive line, receivers, running backs, me, we all have so much confidence in what we’re running.”

On Georgia Tech’s defense:

“They have a good defense. Their secondary is good. Morgan Burnett gets across the whole field. And their defensive end [Derrick Morgan] is a beast. But at the same time, I don’t believe our offense can [be stopped].”

On which former players called after the win against FSU:

“Gino Torretta, Ken Dorsey, William Joseph, Santana Moss hit me up. (Torretta and Dorsey) congratulated me, told me to keep the team focused, make sure we don’t get big-headed, keep this thing going. Everyone wants us to bring the ‘U’ back on top to glory days and that’s something we’re trying to do.”
