Jackets' Lawal on Wooden watch list

Aug 19, 2009

Georgia Tech forward Gani Lawal is on the Wooden Award watch list, which came out on Wednesday.

Lawal, a 6-9 junior from Norcross, averaged 15.1 points and 9.6 rebounds last season. He is one of 50 players on the list.

Tech has never had a player win the Wooden Award, which will be awarded to the nation's best player during the Great Eight portion of the NCAA tournament in March.

The ACC has 10 players on the watch list, which will be re-evaluated in December. The Big East led all conferences with 11 players. The SEC has seven players.
