As might be expected, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson’s assessment of the team’s 31-25 loss to Duke did not change after watching the game video.

“We had a lot of chances,” Johnson said. “We left a lot out there. Take nothing away from (the Blue Devils); they played hard. That’s one we let get away.”

Players were of a similar mind.

“We lost the turnover battle, they ran the ball effectively and we had some mistakes on special teams,” wide receiver Darren Waller said. “It was just an all-around thing.”

The number of defenders blocked to the ground was around 40, according to Waller. It was below the offense’s benchmark of one defender to the ground per play. Tech ran 72 plays.

“Every week we try to work on a few things,” guard Trey Braun said. “That’s something we’re going to be working on, focusing on getting defenders to the ground.”
