Georgia State’s home game against Memphis, scheduled for Sept. 30, was cancelled.

The move is the result of Hurricane Irma and the subsequent schedule shuffling that took place within the American Athletic Conference, of which Memphis is a member.

The Memphis-Central Florida game that was scheduled for Sept. 9, but postponed because of the storm, was moved to Sept. 30.

Per the contract between Georgia State and Memphis, GSU will receive $1.1 million in cancellation fees and expenses, the school announced Thursday.

A news release from the school said that GSU is “exploring all options for a replacement game this season.”

“We are disappointed for our fans and our football program with the cancellation of this game, but it is beyond our control,” athletic director Charlie Cobb said in the news release. “All we can do is search for a suitable replacement, preferably a home FBS game this season.”

As it stands, Georgia State wouldn’t play at home again until Oct. 21 against Troy, after road games Saturday at Penn State, Sept. 23 at Charlotte, Oct. 7 at Coastal Carolina and Oct. 14 against Louisiana-Monroe.

The Panthers have a bye week scheduled for Nov. 18.
