This is it, your last chance to see Georgia Tech’s football team in person. Then the doors shut tight until the season opener Sept. 5 against Jacksonville State.

The Yellow Jackets will scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and then practices will be closed the following two weeks to prepare for the opener.

Coach Paul Johnson was asked what will intrigue him most about the scrimmage, what he might look forward to evaluating. He shrugged and said he would evaluate players.

“You just watch individuals,” Johnson said. “We’ve still got several guys banged up who are going to miss, evidently. We need to get guys back out there practicing.”

Fans can enter Gate 7, which will open at 9:15 a.m.

Fans can park in the Peters deck near the stadium, but it could be a scrum to a get a space with students back on campus.

If you want to get face-to-face with coach Paul Johnson before Sept. 5, that’s available. The Football Kickoff Luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 28 at the Cobb Galleria. Tickets are available for $35 at ramblinwreck.com/tickets. Johnson, athletics director Dan Radakovich and a player or two will attend.
