More than 3,000 tickets have been sold for Georgia State’s regular-season finale against Georgia Southern in men’s basketball on Saturday at the GSU Sports Arena. The capacity is 3,854 and a sell out — just the third in the Arena’s history — is expected.

The Panthers and Eagles are two of the three teams tied atop the Sun Belt with two games left. Saturday’s game could decide the conference title depending upon the results of Thursday’s games. Georgia State (20-9, 13-5) is at Louisiana-Monroe (19-10, 13-5) , the third team in the first-place tie and which the Panthers have already beaten once this season, and Georgia Southern (20-7, 13-5) will host Texas-Arlington (16-12, 10-8).

Seniors Ryann Green, Curtis Washington and Ryan Harrow will be honored before Saturday’s game.

Georgia State needs to win just one of its two remaining games to secure one of the top two seeds for the conference tournament in New Orleans. Those seeds receive a bye to the semifinals. Should Georgia State win both games it will repeat as Sun Belt champ and earn the top seed.

“It’s crazy that the final two games are with the two teams that we are tied with for first,” Washington said. “That’s crazy in itself. It’s so important that we get out there and finish and send a message to conference that we are the best team. We aren’t going to let anyone come in and beat us.”

Washington said Georgia State can’t look past Thursday’s game at the Warhawks to Saturday’s finale.

“Teams play different now, they are hungry,” he said. “I think we are in a good place.”
