The game that was

Georgia (3-2, 2-1 SEC) took a 21-3 lead in the first half and coasted to its third consecutive victory, 24-10 over Mississippi State in Sanford Stadium.

What we learned

1. The offense is stalling in the second half. Georgia scored three touchdowns and gained 237 yards in the first half, but scored no touchdowns and gained only 78 yards in the second half. In its past two games, the Bulldogs have  scored six points (two field goals) in the second halves after scoring 45 in the first.

2. After several shaky seasons, the defense appears stellar. Georgia's defensive unit has allowed only one touchdown in the past three games -- two others were scored on a punt return and an interception return – and dominated Mississippi State, holding a run-first team to just 56 yards rushing.

3. Breakdowns are occurring in unexpected areas. Quarterback Aaron Murray threw three interceptions, giving him six for the season –- only two fewer than all of last year. And placekicker Blair Walsh missed another field-goal attempt, making him 6-for-12 this season after going 40-for-45 the past two seasons.

-- UGA quarterback Aaron Murray
