Georgia’s secondary pulled in four interceptions against Missouri on Saturday, which helped increase its turnover margin to plus 9. The Bulldogs also recovered a fumble against The Tigers. The UGA turnover margin is just five shy of nation-leading Washington (plus 14).

Freshman defensive back Dominick Sanders recorded one interception and sophomore safety Quincy Mauger pulled in two. Somehow, senior cornerback Damian Swann grabbed one with a cast on his right hand.

Swann, a senior, broke his thumb against Tennessee on Sept. 27, but said he’s kind of gotten used to the black hard cast he has sported since. Luckily for him, the ball quite literally fell into his arms as it bounced out of those of the intended receiver. It was his second interception of the season, but his first since injuring that right thumb.

“I haven’t really been able to try and catch a ball from another quarterback with my hands, but the other one was floating in the air so I was able to grab it,” Swann said.

Georgia’s turnover margin ranks fourth overall in the country (tied with Oregon) and leads the SEC. Swan said such a performance in the turnover game was instrumental in their convincing win over Missouri.

“That’s a very big deal,” Swann said of the stat. “That’s one the things that we want to do to be dominant on defense. We have to give our offense as many opportunities as we can so we can go be successful. We want to score on defense. We want to keep creating turnovers.”

Georgia’s next opponent, Arkansas, has a turnover margin of plus 1.
