Georgia’s seemingly indestructible quarterback Jake Fromm was injured in the second quarter and had to leave the game with a knee or ankle injury.

The Bulldogs were facing a second-and-8 situation at their 43-yard line when LSU safety Grant Delpit blitzed unblocked from the left side of Georgia's offensive line and sacked the junior quarterback for a 9-yard loss.

Fromm’s left knee was twisted and caught under both he and Delpit as the two players went to the ground. Fromm quickly got up but, after limping noticeably on his first few steps, he went down to the ground and an injury timeout was called.

Fromm nodded and waved to the crowd as he hobbled to the Georgia sideline under his own power. Seldom-used sophomore Stetson Bennett came in for the third-and-17 play from the Bulldogs' 34. His pass for Matt Landers over the middle was high and nearly intercepted.

Fromm was 8-of-15 passing for 82 yards at the time. After being attended to by trainers on the sideline, he was back up and throwing the ball.

Fromm returned for Georgia’s next possession and quickly completed two passes for 35 yards. But his last attempt of the half was underthrown for Simmons on a deep route down the LSU sideline and was intercepted by freshman cornerback Derek Stingley.

A long pass to Landers at the end of the half was wiped out because Fromm was past the line of scrimmage. The half ended with Fromm playing, albeit imperfectly. He was 10-of-20 for 117 yards.

Fromm's injury was just part of the problem for the Bulldogs. Already without receiver Lawrence Cager and George Pickens (first-half only), they lost 5-star freshman wideout Dominick Blaylock to an apparent knee injury late in the first quarter. Also, redshirt freshman Kearis Jackson was not playing for unknown reasons.
