The coaching carousel has delivered Miami’s former strength and conditioning coach to Georgia Tech. The hire of Gus Felder, whom former Hurricanes coach Mark Richt brought with him from Georgia to lead Miami’s strength and conditioning staff, was announced Monday.

Felder was Miami’s strength and conditioning coach for the past three seasons after he had been assistant director of strength and conditioning at Georgia 2014-15. Felder was not retained by new Miami coach Manny Diaz.

Felder will be under the direction of head football strength and conditioning coach Lewis Caralla.

"We are all very excited for Gus to be joining the family," Georgia Tech football head coach Geoff Collins said in a statement. "Our goal is to build the best developmental program in college football and to help our players reach their goals in every phase of their life. The addition of Gus to our strength and conditioning staff will help us achieve that goal."

Felder played on the offensive line at Penn State 1998-2002 and was twice named All-Big Ten. He had also previously worked at Cheyney and Clark Atlanta.

“I can’t express how excited I am to be back in Atlanta and to be a part of the Georgia Tech family,” Felder said in a statement. “I can’t wait to get started!”
