Georgia Tech A-back Charles Perkins was to see a doctor Monday regarding his knee injury suffered against Pittsburgh on Saturday, coach Paul Johnson said after Monday’s practice.

“I don’t think he’ll play (Saturday against Virginia), but we’ll see,” Johnson said.

Before suffering the injury late in the first quarter, Perkins made a big impact, making a key block for A-back Broderick Snoddy on Tech’s first touchdown and then scoring on a 79-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Justin Thomas to increase the Yellow Jackets’ lead to 14-0. Perkins is averaging 37.3 yards per game and 10.9 yards per carry. He is also Tech’s best blocking A-back. Perkins has started seven of eight games this season but missed the Virginia Tech game earlier this season with a leg injury.

A-back Deon Hill also was held out of Monday’s practice due to unspecified injury, as was B-back Zach Laskey (shoulder). Johnson said Saturday that Laskey would not return for “a couple more weeks.” Right tackle Chris Griffin, who missed Saturday’s game with a shoulder injury, returned to practice.
