Defensive end Cortez Alston will not enroll early at Georgia Tech, but will finish out his senior year at the Westminster Schools.
AlthoughWestminster in Atlanta, Ga. doesn’t offer early graduation, Alston is glad he has one more semester of high school.
“I probably wouldn’t have (enrolled early) either way,” Alston joked. “(I’m delaying when) the real world hits a little bit.”
Alston, 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, committed to Tech on Dec. 21, choosing the Yellow Jackets over Pennsylvania and UC Berkeley. Alston will be playing strong-side defensive end for the Jackets, as he did at Westminster.
“I feel comfortable with that but if they need me to play somewhere else, I wouldn’t mind,” Alston said. “I think I don’t think I’ll be able to start right away, but I’ll be able to compete and from that point on will see whatever happens.”
