Georgia Tech is likely to get one of the most important pieces on its offense back for Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh. A-back Broderick Snoddy, who has missed the past two games with a hand injury, should be back on the field for the ACC Coastal Division matchup.

“He’s probably going to play this week,” coach Paul Johnson said Wednesday after practice.

An official determination will be made Thursday, when the team’s injury report is released.

The Yellow Jackets would get a boost from Snoddy, who is the most experienced A-back on the roster and one of the fastest players on the team, as they’re desperate for more firepower on offense.

This week, Johnson elevated freshman A-back Mikell Lands-Davis, who will be playing in his third college game, into the starting lineup because of his playmaking ability and has given more time to freshman B-back Marcus Marshall for the same reason, despite deficiencies in blocking.

Snoddy has gained 175 yards on 16 carries this season, a 10.9 yards-per-carry average that is the highest among team members with double-digit rushing attempts.

Since his 48-yard run against Notre Dame in the third game of the season, the Jackets have had two running plays of 20 yards or more, neither longer than 24 yards. (Snoddy played in the following game against Duke, in which he injured his hand.)

The drought is hardly due solely to Snoddy’s absence, but his speed can enable him to erase the types of mistakes that the offense has committed during the Jackets’ four-game losing streak.
