He joins rare company for former Tech football players. He is just the 14th former Yellow Jacket to play for a Super Bowl champion team, according to pro-football-reference.com records, including Bill Curry twice. Each player, position, team and the year he won the Super Bowl.

Gerris Wilkinson, LB, New York Giants, 2008 – Backup, played 13 regular-season games, made one tackle in Super Bowl

Gary L. Brown, OT, Green Bay, 1997 – Started five regular-season games that season, played four NFL seasons

Dorsey Levens, RB, Green Bay, 1997 – Backup, led Packers with 61 rushing yards in Super Bowl, went to Pro Bowl following year

Billy Shields, OT, San Francisco, 1985 – Backup, played 10 regular-season games, starting one, at end of 142-game career

Don Bessillieu, DB, L.A. Raiders, 1984 – Backup, played four regular-season games

Billy Lothridge, P, Miami, 1973 – All-time great Tech quarterback punted four times in regular season for NFL's only perfect team

Bill Curry, C, Baltimore Colts, 1971 – Tech's only two-time Super Bowl winner snapped to Johnny Unitas in redemptive win after Super Bowl III loss to Jets
