Boston College is just 1-4 on the season, with its only win coming against Maine. And while the Eagles struggled to do very much in a 38-7 loss to Florida State last season, BC is showing signs of improvement entering Saturday’s game against the Seminoles.
Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig has thrown for 1,531 yards, 10 touchdowns and just three interceptions. And he has a go-to receiver in Alex Amidon, who has 644 yards and four touchdowns.
“They’ve got a good quarterback,” coach Jimbo Fisher said. “I see (Rettig) improved, and I see people around him have improved. He’s grown because they have gotten better, which has allowed his confidence to get better.”
BC also has made strides in the running game, led by junior Andre Williams (379 yards, four TDs).
Watson improving: One of the missing pieces in the loss Saturday at N.C. State was starting right tackle Menelik Watson, who was out with the flu. Fisher said that Watson is doing better and will be able to play against Boston College.
“He went the whole day today,” Fisher said.
Injury update: Sophomore offensive lineman Daniel Foose (back) will miss the rest of the season.
