Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher made a passionate plea for fans to fill Doak Campbell Stadium for Saturday’s game against Nevada and the rest of the 2013 season.

FSU has had trouble at times the past few seasons with filling seats against Football Championship Series teams and even some ACC opponents. Among the reasons are the heat and humidity of September afternoon games, high gas prices and the cost of hotels in Tallahassee.

But Fisher hopes fans will consider passing up a Saturday on the couch to make the trip to support the Seminoles.

“You see it everywhere (around college football), more so than you’ve probably ever seen it,” Fisher said. “But if they get rid of these dadgum TVs and home packages with HD and all these home grills and stuff out of there, I think it has a lot to do with it.

“I still don’t think there is anything like the game day experience and supporting them. You’re a fan of these kids, but support them and understand that when they work so hard for 12 opportunities a year and seven in our stadium and for our seniors it’s the last seven times you’ll be out there to celebrate them and appreciate them for what they’ve done for Florida State.”

Nevada QB injured: Nevada coach Brian Polian has said that dual-threat quarterback Cody Fajardo is day-to-day with a sprained knee.

But Fajardo is expected to rest, receive extra treatment and play Saturday at No. 10 Florida State. Fajardo is one of just five quarterbacks in the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012 who had more than 2,000 passing yards and more than 1,000 rushing yards.
