Arizona Cardinals president Michael Bidwill is not sticking to sports when it comes to one of his friends.

Along with three members of the 1983 class of Georgetown Prep outside Washington, D.C., Bidwill sent a letter to Senate leaders to advocate for his former classmate Brett Kavanaugh to become the newest Supreme Court Justice.

In a letter distributed by The Georgetown Prep Monday night after President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the United States Supreme Court, Bidwell and 150 signees spoke of Kavanaugh as an brilliant individual who was “eminently qualified” to serve on teh Supremem Court.

“I’ve known him for more than 37 years,” Bidwill said, according to a statement by the Cardinals. “We stayed in close contact over the years – we have a pretty tight high school class – and we all knew Brett was pretty special. He’s got a sharp mind. He’s been a brilliant jurist for a long time.”

The intention of the Georgetown Prep letter was to give a platform for the close-knit group of Georgetown Prep alumni to speak to Senate leaders about their former classmate’s character.

“(Kavanaugh) is a man of high character, high intelligence, excellence and independence,” Bidwill said, according to the Cardinals. “We want to speak up and show our support as former classmates and long-time friends.”

The Senate will hold a confirmation hearing for Kavanaugh before he can be formally appointed to the Supreme Court.
