Highly touted prospect Julio Teheran provided strong starting pitching, and the Gwinnett Braves snapped their four-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.
Teheran pitched six innings and allowed one run. He struck out seven and walked one. The Yankees (14-9) scored an unearned run in the fifth.
First baseman Mauro Gomez of the G-Braves (14-9) hit safely in his 12th consecutive game. He was 3-for-4 to boost his International League-leading batting average to .407. Gomez scored a run, drove in two runs and had two doubles.
Jairo Asencio recorded his third save, pitching one inning. He struck out two.
