The Braves placed utility man Omar Infante and pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes on the disabled list today and brought up infielder Diory Hernandez and pitcher Kris Medlen from Class AAA Gwinnett.
All of the moves were expected, after Infante (broken finger) and Reyes (strained hamstring) were injured in Wednesday night's win against Colorado. Infante is expected to be sidelined until the All-Star break after fracturing the fifth metacarpal in his left hand when hit by a pitch.
He broke the same finger when hit by a pitch in winter ball before the 2008 season.
Medlen was already scheduled to start tonight against Colorado in his major-league debut, and was added to the 40-man roster today. Hernandez was already on the 40-man roster, but this will also be his first stint in the major leagues.
Until Reyes got hurt Wednesday, it hadn't been clear who the Braves would remove from the 25-man roster to open a spot for Medlen. Reyes was injured after giving up two runs in one inning in his first relief appearance since being dropped from the starting rotation.
