Tim Hardaway Jr.’s game-tying 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds remaining in a game against the Spurs sent the Hawks’ home crowd in a frenzy Sunday.
The reaction of one young fan reaction caught national attention.
A video clip shows a youngster wearing a Hawks shirt while turning circles, rubbing his extended arm with the three-finger sign for a 3-pointer with a deliriously happy face. ESPN tweeted the video from its SportsCenter accounted as the best celebration of 2017 already locked up.
The youngster captured in celebration was the son of Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer. He sometimes serves as a ball boy for Hawks game and was on the bench at the time of the dramatic shot.
Hardaway’s 3-pointer sent the game into overtime and the Hawks would win 114-112 in dramatic fashion. It snapped the Hawks’ 11-game losing streak to the Spurs and gave the elder Budenholzer is first win in seven tries against the organization where he spent the first 19 years of his career.
Budenholzer was much more subdued after the victory over his former team.
