A brief recap of the Hawks’ loss to the Wizards:
How the game was won: Atlanta's offense went missing in the second half, when they made just 13-of-52 shots (25 percent), and the Hawks couldn't slow down Washington guards Bradley Beal and John Wall as they combined to score 46 points with 14 assists and 14 rebounds.
DeMarre Carroll scored 21 of his 25 points as Atlanta built a 63-53 halftime lead, Al Horford went for 17 points and 17 rebounds, and Paul Millsap added 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Hawks’ starting backcourt of Jeff Teague (11 points) and Kyle Korver (14), however, combined to make just 4-of-14 3-pointers and couldn’t check Beal (28 points) and Wall (18 points, 13 assists).
Turning point: The Hawks just 8-of-24 shots in the third quarter, including 3-of-11 3-pointers, as the Wizards closed to within 83-81 by period's end. Atlanta then made just two of its first 12 shots in the fourth quarter as Washington took the lead.
Number: 19 %. The Hawks made just 4-of-21 3-pointers in the second half, including 1-of-10 in the fourth quarter, after making 9-of-17 in the first half.
