The Hawks assigned Edy Tavares to the NBA Development League Monday. The reserve center will play for the Austin Spurs through the flexible assignment rule.

Tavares is expected to play two games for Austin – at home against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at noon on Tuesday and at the Texas Legends at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

This will be the seventh D-League stint for Tavares, six with Austin (eight games) and one with the Canton Charge (two games). In 10 games, he averaged 9.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 21.4 minutes.

Tavares has appeared in 10 games for the Hawks and averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 6.9 minutes.
