Tiago Splitter got a second opinion on his ailing right hip that will cost him the final six games going into the all-star break, according to a person familiar with the situation. The results are pending.

Splitter has missed the past four games after experiencing soreness following last week’s game against the Heat. The Hawks reserve center will also miss Monday’s game against the Magic and Wednesday’s game against the Bulls. The Hawks decided to keep Splitter out of the lineup until after the lengthy break to get his hip right. On Monday, they decided to seek a second opinion for the slow-to-heal injury.

Splitter missed seven games with the injury earlier this season and it has nagged him since. He also missed four games with a sore right calf.

Splitter expressed frustration with the injury recently.

“I am, I am a little bit,” Splitter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution when asked if he is frustrated. “At the same time, I’m working hard to get back. I want to play. It has been a little bit frustrating.”

Splitter has appeared in 36 games, including two starts, this season and averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds.
