EuroBasket 2017 is over for Dennis Schroder.
Not before the Hawks point guard did some impressive work.
Schroder led Germany to the quarterfinals of the tournament before it ended with an 84-72 loss to defending champion Spain on Tuesday. Schroder had 27 points, eight assists, four rebounds and seven turnovers in the game played in Istanbul. Schroder was 12 of 23 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range.
Spain was led by the Gasol brothers, who combined for 47 points. Marc had a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds and Pau added 19 points. Spain advances to play the winner of Tuesday’s Slovenia-Latvia game.
In seven games, Schroder totaled 166 points, a 23.7 points per game average. That led the tournament after Tuesday’s game. He also had 39 assists, 5.6 per game.
New Hawk Marco Belinelli is still alive in the tournament. His Italy team will face Serbia on Wednesday in a quarterfinal game.
The final of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday.
Schroder can now return to the Hawks. The 2017-18 NBA season will get underway with the start of training camp on Sept. 26.
