Dennis Schroder is making “good progress” in recovery from a left ankle injury suffered late in the Hawks’ Game 2 victory over the Celtics Tuesday night. The reserve point guard had an X-ray on his ankle following the game and the results were negative.

Schroder left the arena with a limp and not wearing a sock or shoe on his left foot.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said Schroder will continue to get treatment in advance of Game 3 in Boston on Friday night.

“He has made progress,” Budenholzer said Wednesday. “We still have to see how the next day or two goes leading into Game 3. We’ll know more over the next couple of days. I would said it’s trending or making good progress. I feel like it’s not something real serious and we are hopeful that he will continue to make progress and we’ll be able to make a decision between now and Game 3 about his availability.”

Schroder left the NBA Eastern Conference first-round playoff game with 1:19 remaining in the game. Schroder had substituted for Jeff Teague 37 seconds earlier. He went down at the corner of the court near the Hawks bench and was helped to the locker room. Schroder had eight points, two rebounds, one assist and one turnover in 19:41 of playing time before the injury.
