The following is a transcript of questions posed to lead official Ken Mauer on the ejection of Al Horford from Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers Sunday night.
Q.What in the replay did you see that made it a Flagrant Foul 2 on Al Horford?
A. He made contact above the shoulders, to the shoulder and head area, of (Matthew) Dellavedova.
Q. Why did Dellavedova get a technical?
A. We felt that he made contact with his head and shoulders into the knee area of Horford. So we ruled that a live ball physical taunt technical foul.”
Q. Were any other plays in the game taken into consideration when determining the ruling?
A. No.
Q. Were Dellavedova’s actions - or can be - taken into account when assessing Horford’s actions/discipline?
A. They were not. Each one was taken into account on its own merit.
