Mike Muscala will not travel to New York for Thursday’s game against the Knicks after a right ankle sprain suffered in the season-opener against the Pistons Tuesday, the Hawks announced.

According to the team, an X-ray of Muscala’s ankle was negative. The forward/center walked with a severe limp following the game. He was injured on a drive to the basket early in the fourth quarter and did not return. Muscala had one rebound in 7:59 of playing time. Muscala posted on social media that his ankle is “doing much better” and that he will be back soon.

The Hawks injury report also included Thabo Sefolosha as out due to right ankle rehabilitation. He did travel with the team to New York Wednesday. Sefolosha played 18:56 against the Pistons in his first regular-season game since April when he suffered a broken leg and ligament damage. The guard/forward had two points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

With Muscala and Sefolosha out, guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and center Edy Tavares will be on the active list against the Knicks. Both were inactive against the Pistons.
