Joe's back: Hawks guard Joe Johnson returned to the lineup Friday night after a two-game absence, the first action he had missed this season. Johnson developed tendinitis in his Achilles tendon over the last two months. He has been treating it with ice, massage and electric stimulation.

"I just felt it was time for me to get a little rest off of it and let it heal up a little bit," Johnson said Friday morning.

Johnson played 17 minutes through the first half, the most of any Hawks player.

Southeast race: Hawks coach Mike Woodson hasn't given up on catching Southeast Division leader Orlando, but he conceded the Hawks would likely have to run the table to do so. Going into Friday's game, the Hawks were 4 ½ games behind the Magic. If the Hawks won their final 15 games, they would finish 58-24. In that case, the Magic would have to go 8-4, which would include a loss to the Hawks, to finish behind them.

New ownership: Woodson on new Bobcats owner Michael Jordan: "It seemed like something that should have happened a long time ago. But timing is everything and the fact that he's been able to step up and make this transaction happen is huge for the league. I think he'll be very successful."
