The Hawks will wait until the Oct. 31 deadline for final decisions on the team options for John Jenkins and Dennis Schroder.

Jenkins has a fourth-year option of $2,228,025 and Schroder has a third-year option of $1,763,400 for the 2015-16 seasons.

“We’ll continue to watch and evaluate,” said coach Mike Budenholzer, who is acting general manager with Danny Ferry on indefinite leave of absence. “We feel good about both of them. As in the past, we’ll take the full time.”

The delay in a decision does not necessarily mean the Hawks are ready to cut ties with either player. The team is protected in case either player suffers a season- or career-ending injury up until the deadline, which includes three exhibition games.

If a player does not have his team option exercised he would become an unrestricted free agent. That player could still re-sign with the Hawks but not for a salary greater than his option.

Last season, the Hawks picked up on Jenkins and declined the option on Jared Cunningham, who is currently with the Clippers.
