A recap of the Hawks’ 99-95 loss to the Timberwolves Wednesday:

Noteworthy

* Paul Millsap had his eighth double-double, and third 20-point, 10-rebound game, of the season.

* The Hawks outrebounded the Timberwolves 53-45. In their earlier meeting, the Timberwolves held a 40-27 rebounding edge.

* The Hawks committed seven first-quarter turnovers, which led to seven points. They committed just seven turnovers the final three quarters.

* The Timberwolves won for only the second time at home.

* The Timberwolves matched a season-high with nine 3-pointers.

* The Timberwolves bench outscored the Hawks 58-18

* Kyle Korver was a rebound short of a double-double (11 points, nine rebounds).

* Kent Bazemore missed his fifth straight game with a right ankle sprain. Tiago Splitter missed his second straight game with right hip soreness. Both players accompanied the Hawks on the three-game road trip. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer would not commit whether either would be able to play Friday and/or Saturday. “With both of them we’ll have to wait and see and see how the next day or two goes,” Budenholzer said.

* Korver (26 of 59) and Al Horford (20 of 55) entered Wednesday’s game with nearly the same number of 3-point attempts. “They are a very good 3-point shooting basketball team,” T-Wolves coach Sam Mitchell said.

Report card

Offense: C-plus

The Hawks had a poor shooting night but still held a lead in the fourth quarter. They were hurt by seven first-quarter turnovers. In the end, they were doomed by a poor fourth-quarter shooting effort. Many of those shots were good looks that didn’t fall.

Defense: C

The Hawks allowed Timberwolves reserves Zach LaVine and Damjan Rudez to get away from them. In fact, the Timberwolves had starters Karl Anthony-Towns, Ricky Rubio, Kevin Garnett and Kevin Martin on the bench for nearly the entire fourth quarter. The four played a combined 53 seconds. The Hawks failed to get stops down the stretch and it was costly.
